Hello Honker family! It’s been far too long since I have written an article for the Honker. As always, I hope this message finds you doing the best you can be surrounding all of the circumstances in everyone’s lives right now.
This Sun Halo, pictured just outside of Middle River, appeared after the winter’s first blizzard, guiding us safely into calmer weather and the celebration of Christmas.
The Legion Riders were presented with a check for $1787 from American Legion Auxiliary 9th District President Pat Hanson. Her 2019-2020 District project was to raise funds for scholarships for children of veteran men and women who lost their lives on active duty, Post 9/11. Pat also donated an additional $1787 to the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, “Boots on the Ground” Organization. She is grateful to all of the 9th District Units and Individuals who contributed to her projects and sends “A sincere thank you as we continue to support our Veterans and their families.” Pictured above are Lynette Berg, Legion Riders President Harlan Olson, Earl Berg, Tim Maurstad and Ryan Gilbert.
Badger High School is pleased to announce the nomination of junior, Hailey VonEnde, for the Minnesota State High School League’s ExCEL Award. The ExCEL (Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership) is a program designed to recognize high school juniors who are active as volunteers in their communities, hold leadership positions within their school, participate in MSHSL sponsored activities, and perform well academically.
Marshall County Central is proud to announce that senior Ashley Olson received a perfect score of 36 on the ACT! Only 1/3 of 1% of students who take the ACT across the country earn this score. This puts Ashley in an exclusive club. The 36 is a composite or average of four subject area scores - English, Reading, Math, and Science. Everyone at MCC is extremely proud of Ashley and we wish her the best of luck on all of her future endeavors. CONGRATULATIONS, ASHLEY!
