The Mindekiken church and Norwegian Center in Minneapolis will be celebrating the one hundred year centennial very soon. We can get more information (if we have the internet) by using this address: https://www.mindekirken.org/index.php/about-us/centennial-2022. Dr. Gracia Grindal, former professor at Luther Seminary is the Chair of the Mindekirken Centennial Committee. Dr. Grindal, by the way, was a member of the youth groups I had when serving as a youth director at Oak Grove Lutheran in Richfield. Minekirken was a church where many Norwegian immigrants gathered. They wanted a church which used the Norwegian language and the same Hymns and liturgy used in Norway. Eventually, they learned English! The church building is not a Stave Church. There are ten Stave Church buildings in our USA. One replica is in Moorhead and possibly the most popular is in Rapid City, South Dakota.
