Poppy Day 2021

Poppy Day 2021

Elvina Hanson, one of the oldest members of American Legion Auxiliary Post 444, received a special delivery of a poppy and flag in observance of Poppy Day. The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms. All donations received will be used by The American Legion Family for their programs that support veterans, the military community and their families. Wear a poppy to honor those who have worn our nation’s uniform. Poppies will be available at the following area businesses until June 1.

KLASEN’S GREENHOUSE

In its short life span, Klasen’s Greenhouse has encountered a mixture of circumstances. The business, owned by very young entrepreneurs, Ricki and Kade Klasen, officially opened its doors on May 1, 2019. Last year during the COVID breakout, there was a time they were not sure if they were going to be open. “But thankfully we were able to open and our customers made it better than we could have imagined,” said Ricki. They sold out quickly, noting that their customer base had grown tremendously since their first year. So they decided almost immediately after last year’s season that they needed to add on to be able to provide more product and variety to their customers.
