This group of nature lovers took time out from Summer Recreation activities to help plant the gardens at the Legacy Center. They learned getting your hands dirty can be a good thing in helping to beautify the world around them!

The Marshall County Area Veterans Memorial Park Committee promised to keep the public updated on the dedication festivities with some details. On Tuesday June 22nd, 2021 the park will be celebrated with a military structured program. It is a great opportunity to witness firsthand an atmosphere of service that veterans carry for a lifetime. There will be music from talented folks paying tribute. A message for all of us from area folks with connections to our veterans. All things will be intertwined with the military presence and theme. It will be a great chance for families to experience in person how connected we all are to the men and women who serve and defend our country and its values.

O’Brien Stromsodt, 2021 Miss North Star, was honored at a sendoff as she continues her journey at the Miss Minnesota Competition June 25 & 26. The event was hosted by the Miss North Star committee and held at the First Lutheran Church in Middle River. The audience enjoyed seeing all of O’Brien’s competition wardrobe (including voting on earring and shoe choices!), listening to her talent and observing her in a mock interview with the audience asking the questions. This was a very intimate visit with O’Brien as the audience learned about her pageant journey and gained insight into her motivation, goals and life lessons learned. Since competition wardrobe is not revealed to the public until the competition, the Honker will feature this next week as the competition is underway. For the talent portion of the pageant, O’Brien will be playing Solfeggietto by CPE Bach. She is pictured here with the North Star committee, Rachel Bukowski, Marlene Peterson, Kara Super-Peterson, KayDell Super, and Mindy Bukowski. Following the event, a coffee and dessert bar was served by the committee.
