Strathcona Fall Festival IS BACK!

Chrest Hamness spearheaded the return of the Strathcona Fall Festival on August 8 after the event was put on hold for the past two years. The Strathcona State Bank was listed as the sponsor of the event and who is the president? None other than Chrest! He has purchased the former bank building and is working on refurbishing the old business. Chrest is pictured as Grand Marshal of the parade in his 1923 Ford T Touring car as he enjoyed throwing candy to the photographer! His passenger is his oldest granddaughter, Robin Johnson.

First Lutheran and Our Saviors Host Pathways Day Camp

This was the third year that Our Saviors and 1st Lutheran together invited Pathways to Middle River for camp. They sent us 3 fun and energetic counselors, one of which has blessed us with her presence all 3 years! They are a part of Camp Emmaus in Menagha, MN which is a part of Pathways Ministries. These counselors go between being on site and traveling to day camps, where they stay for 5 days, typically with a host family, and put on a 4 day camp for kids in the comfort of their home towns! Our counselors stayed right at the Legacy B and B, which was a perfect set-up for them and close to the church!

Nothing like a Visit with Old Friends.....

Nothing like a Visit with Old Friends.....

Clarence Dahl and Emma Anderson shared an afternoon visit at Emma’s home at Bethany Assisted Living in Fargo recently. They both grew up in the Gatzke/Thief Lake area and remember their mothers being great friends. Emma was a long time resident of Middle River and could be seen with her bouncy step walking from her home on Second Street to the Middle River bank where she was employed since the day the Middle River State Bank opened in 1946. The twinkle in her sparkly blue eyes and her joke telling talents kept people entertained and were symbols of her mischief and merriment. Greetings from Middle River, Emma!
