Youth and Disabled Veterans Enjoy Early Goose Hunt near Middle River

Border State Bank sponsored an early Goose Hunt for area youth on Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12. On Saturday, 21 youth participated with 48 geese and 4 ducks harvested. On Sunday 4 youth participated with 20 geese being harvested for a total of 68 geese and 4 ducks harvested for the weekend hunt. Following the hunt, the group was treated to a lunch provided by the American Legion Auxiliary. Volunteers helping with this event were Jason Cervantes, Justin Hanson, Mike Brazier, Mike Hugg, Cole Davidson, Wyatt Lunke, Ty Lunke, Shawn Larson, and CJ Bengtson.

Newfolden Class of 1961 Celebrates 50th Reunion

The Newfolden Class of 1961 reunited to celebrate 50 years since their high school graduation. Following the parade at Newfest, they enjoyed a Meet and Greet at Lu- Ann Chaplinski’s near Middle River. That was followed by a dinner at the Middle River Community Center. Following dinner, the class enjoyed a program emceed by Howard Rokke and Lois (Thompson) Elseth. Mark Knutson from the Marshall County Central Education Foundation spoke to the group and it was Richard Moen’s birthday so a rousing round of Happy Birthday was shared by the group. Class officers were recognized and a special tribute was given for those classmates who have passed away. Sally Hanson Tanner read the class history, Ron Ueland gave the sports highlights which was followed by the class singing the fight song. They spent a class sharing time of memories and closed the program with Janice and Harriet leading in the singing of “The More We Get Together.”
