Rural Reflections

I have always been interested in the news. I am amazed at what I have seen over time, in the news. One great change is that the news now tells you what to think, an even greater change is that people want the news to tell them what to think. Another surprising aspect of the news is that people demand less from their news. I could understand asking for more, but they seem to ask for less. Many news consumers want the news to be tailored to their own motivations which means the news never challenges their idea of the truth. By demanding less objective news, the listener is also demanding less of themselves. Critical thinking is no longer prized as a sign of maturity, or intelligence-it is instead seen as weakness. You have two choices to believe in any discussion, and those who dare think for themselves are left in the middle of these two groups-disliked by both and supported by neither.
