Five young ladies will be competing for the title of Miss Middle River 2021on Saturday, September 11. Pictured on the main street of the city they hope to represent for a year, are Brooklyn Melcher, Reese Rustad, Layci Olson, Miss Middle River 2019-20 Piper Sondreal, Bella Burkel, and Ashley Benke. The pageant will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Legacy Center.
The following cast members completed a 4-night run of Home Sweet Home...Maybe! on Ye Olde Depot Stage last week. This youth play began preparation in June and because of Covid guidelines was put on hold until its final August production. Ironically, the show was based on situations surrounding the quarantine and included several humorous vignettes from the lives of the past year and a half. The MRCT Board of Directors would like to thank cast, parents, and audiences for supporting this endeavor. The stage will not be empty for long as the adult Goose Festival production of The Outsider is busy preparing for it upcoming productions. Watch for more details!
The Wiskow family AKA “Floral Apron Catering” was kept busy as they served morning rolls and a delicious plate lunch at the recent Strathcona Fall Festival. Visitors throughout the day enjoyed the lunch of BBQ, potato salad, beans, bars, cookies, lemonade and coffee. You are invited to join First Lutheran Church of Middle River for a Fun in the Sun and 125th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, August 22, 2021@ 1pm, beginning with an outdoor worship service at 11:00 a.m. and followed by a picnic lunch on the north lawn of First Lutheran Church. In keeping with our celebration theme, we are inviting law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs. We are having a special cake in honor of our guests. There is no obligation for anyone who comes to our service, we simply want to thank our public safety personnel as we celebrate Fun in the Sun.
This recipe I created for my mom. She loves everything almond flavored and I thought of creating a sauce with amaretto. We paired this with fried walleye last week and it was delicious. A little on the sweet side, but something to amp up the flavor of fried walleye!
