Literally, hours before this Honker was placed on the press, the Gators defeated Deer River 58-52 in the State Quarterfinals played in Pequot Lakes. They will take on Hayfield at the Target Center on April 7 in the State Semi-Finals. GO GATORS!

There was mass celebration as the Gators defeated the Stephen- Argyle Storm in the quarterfinal round of the Section 8A basketball tournament at the Swamp. This victory put them in the semifinal game against the Fertile-Beltrami Falcons where they were once again victorious. This propelled them to the Section final game as they take on the Cass Lake Bena Panthers on Thursday, March 25 as this Honker goes to press. The Gators ended their regular season with losses to Perham and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. They ended with a 19-8 final record, 7-2 Section record, placed third in Section 8A, and rated #20 out of 82 teams in the state of Minnesota. They ended with a #3 Seed in Section 8A and opened sectional quarterfinal tournament play at the Swamp on March 8 against the #6 Seed Mahnomen/Waubun, defeating them 60-14. They will take on #2 Seed United North Central in the semifinal on March 11 at Sebeka. The winner will take on the winner of #1 Frazee and #4 Crookston for the Sectional championship on March 13 at Cass Lake. The Section 7 vs 8 State Individual Preliminaries will be March 20 at Cass Lake. Good luck Gators!
