Gator Clay Busters Wraps up Regular Season

The Gator Claybusters started the regular season on April 5th and ran for 7 weeks. There were two practice weeks and then five weeks of competition shooting in Class 5A Conference 2. Every year, our conference and class is determined by the number of shooters on the team and the league matches teams that are similar in size throughout the state so it is different every year. This year, we had 39 shooters. The other teams in the conference consisted of Champlin Park High School, Chatfield High School, Eastview High School, Esko High School, Montevideo High School, Mora High School, and St. James High School. The Gator Clay Busters were first place each of the five weeks of competition shooting and won the conference. Champlin Park was second, Eastview was third, St. James was fourth, Montevideo was fifth, Mora was sixth, Chatfield was seventh, and Esko was eighth.

Captains Brooke Olson & Brady Skeim put together a team dinner last week for the team ( even though it was their parents and Grandma Nancy, we’re giving them the credit!). It was so fun to just be together and watch the team bond. They competed in the first ever True North Conference meet on May 15 in Thief River Falls and all first place finishes were records since it is the first meet of the new Conference. True Team is next Tuesday in Park Rapids with all events filled except hurdles. We are not expecting to win but we are expecting pretty awesome performances from Brady Skeim, Leo Bring, Brooke Olson, Gage Hockstedler, Talon Hilagus to name a few. And with this team, anything is possible. It’s been a great season and we are pleased with their hard work and good attitudes.
