GMR Students Lend a Helping Hand

This group of Greenbush-Middle River High School students answered the call of duty as neighboring Middle River was in desperate need of sandbags for several residences following a 5 inch deluge on Thursday night. Principal Sharon Schultz organized the operation, closing down the library so librarian Kari Tydlacka could drive the bus carrying the students. There were 36 student volunteers with more wanting to assist but had tests or other academic conflicts. On arrival they immediately set to work in the American Legion parking lot filling sand bags. Sand was donated by Spruce Valley Corporation with Beito Repair assisting with the delivery of the sand. Workers were given bottled water donated by Young’s Store. Volunteers from grades 7-12 in the photo included (left to right) Kailey Hanson, Madison Olson, Cassie Dahl, Brooklyn Wahl, Sierra Westberg, Ty Christian, Honna Westlund, Chance Christian, Gavin Eeg, Brennan Collins, Danyn Janousek, Cole Blazek, Nicole Berard, Tessany Blazek, Kai Melby, Karter Kostrzewski, Zach Blawat, Brandon Brazier, Bella Burkel, Walter Taus, Tessany Bertilrud, Jaden Kostrzewski, McKenna Bennett, Kobey Dallager, Madeline Arnesen, Alex Anderson, Ethan Waage, Jaxon Janousek, Avery Beito, Evan Berge, Owen Lund, Will Foss, Alec Beito, Nathan Waage, Dalton Waage. Lesson Learned: Helping out your neighbor and Community Action are always needed in today’s world. Thank you GMR Students!
