Shifting Geers

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day everyone! I thought this week it might be fun to check out a few facts and myths about the holiday that falls on March 17th each year.

One of the things that I associate with this holiday are all things GREEN. Green clothes, green beer and even green rivers are common on this day. I learned today that Saint Patrick more than likely wore blue! As luck would have it, I also found out that St Patrick was actually born in Britain.

When Saint Patrick was 16, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders. It is said that he spent 6 years working as a shepherd and that he found God during this trying time in his life. Saint Patrick heard a declaration that said God told him to flee to the coast and a ship would be waiting there to bring him home. Once he arrived home, he became a priest and vowed to convert the pagan Irish to Christianity.
