Stacy Schmidt Dunham

Stacy Marie Schmidt was born on November 25, 1971. Four years later, Stacy’s parents gave her a friend for life, her baby sister Elly May. Stacy and her family resided in Middle River. Stacy graduated in 1990 from Middle River High School, where she was active in FLA, cheerleading and volleyball. Through her years in Middle River she made many lifelong friendships. Eventually she made her home in Roseau, MN. She joined the Roseau Times-Region family in October of 1999 as an ad designer. She was a very valued employee and friend to all. Stacy always had a smile and lots of witty comments! Stacy touched many lives on her journey through life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a special place in her heart for her nephews and niece. Hunter, Whitney and- Holden were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. Stacy is survived by her parents, Jerry Schmidt, of Rothsay, and Geneva (Jeanie) Schmidt and Wes Eskeliof Fosston; Sister Elly Balmer and Ray Sandstrom of North Branch; Nephews Hunter Balmer of Morris and Holden Balmer of North Branch; and Niece Whitney Balmer of Moorhead. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Marcus Schmidt; grandmother Loretta Huset; aunt Sharon Huset; sister Katari Schmidt; and extended family members. Stacy was one of a kind, a truly genuine soul. She loved life and it showed through her smile. Stacy fought hard for almost two years against ovarian cancer. She was one tough, courageous woman. On October 1, 2016, Stacy took her final breath here on earth at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. A service celebrating the life of Stacie Marie Dunham was held at 11am, Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Middle River, with Father Lou Buiton officiating. Ben Gram was the Altar Server and Rachel Bukowski was the organist. All attending were considered by Stacy’s family to be honorary bearers.
