Jeanette Ann Bukowski
Jeanette Bukowski, 80 of Middle River, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Lifecare Greenbush Manor, Greenbush, MN.
Jeanette Ann Kosmatka was born June 11, 1940 at home in Oslo, MN the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Osowski) Kosmatka. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Chapel north of Oslo and attended country grade school.
In the winter of 1956, Jeanette met the love of her life, Henry Bukowski at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Middle River. Following his military service, Henry came back to the family farm and married his sweetheart, Jeanette on April 7, 1959. The couple made their home on the farm where they raised small grains, cattle, sheep, chickens, dairy cattle, and their boys, Russell and Nathan.
She was proud to spend her life on the farm and especially enjoyed taking care of her very large vegetable and flower gardens. She was a lover of all flowers especially her gladiolas and roses. All her garden produce was processed and canned. She spent hours shelling peas, pickling beets, canning crab apples, trimming beans, and husking corn. She also enjoyed her crafts, embroidering, listening to music, singing and playing bingo. Jeanette loved to spend time with Henry watching their boys and grandkids play sports. Together they spent countless hours in the wood shop, playing morning pinochle and setting jigsaw puzzles.
Jeanette was straight and to the point. You had to learn her sense of humor, she had such a dry wit, if you didn’t catch the twinkle in her eye you missed the joke.
Alongside her garden she was dedicated to her family and faith. Jeanette was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and served many years on the Ladies Guild.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Middle River, MN with Father George Noel Presiding. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Middle River. Visitation was held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:40 PM Rosary and 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, October 26, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Middle River. Visitation was also be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Survivors include her loving children, Russell (Sharon) Bukowski of Elmira, NY, Nathan (Mindy) Bukowski of Middle River, MN; grandchildren, Dennis (Morgan) Bukowski of Alvarado, MN, Rachel Bukowski of Middle River, MN; great-grandchildren, Kate, Georgia, Korbi and Signe Bukowski; brother, James (Lennae) Kosmatka; sister-in-law, Eleanore Rantanen; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 2013; parents; siblings, Rosemarie (Lester) Ellis, Dorothy (George) Vanyo, JoAnne (Richard) Stoltman, Helen (Bruce) McGhee and Theodore Kosmatka in infancy.
