Elvina Kolden

Elvina Kolden, of Middle River, MN, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN, at the age of 95.

A Gathering for Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Elvina Rasmussen Nelson Kolden was born on August 25, 1928 at home in Middle River, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Olson) Rasmussen Berg. She attended school in rural Middle River.

Following World War II Elvina was married to George Nelson.

Together they had five boys – Larry, Roger, LaVerne “Snib”, Gene, and Gary “Beaver.”

Later in life Elvina was married to Morlan “Moon” Kolden.

Elvina loved to dance and listen to country music, visit Las Vegas and Mesa, and traveling with her sister Bertha to Elko, NV, riding on the golf cart while her sons were golfing. Elvina was a proud member of the Middle River American Legion Auxiliary since 1962. Elvina’s family would like to thank the Middle River Legion Auxiliary and the Middle River Thief Lake Living at Home Program for their kindness.

Elvina is survived by her sons, Larry (Cladell) of Grand Forks, ND, Roger (Pam) of Middle River, MN, LaVerne (Rose) of Middle River, MN, Gene (Lorie) of Middle River, MN, and Gary of Middle River, MN; grandchildren, Mick, Bryce, Mandy, Justin, Kerry, Kelly, Sheree, and Shane; several great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
