Dorothy Mae Westlund

Dorothy Mae Westlund, 81, of Grand Forks, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Dorothy was born July 28, 1938, in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Archie & Kathryn (Sulland) Prosser. She grew up in Middle River, MN and graduated from Middle River High School in 1956. She then attended Concordia and later graduated from UND with an MBA.

She married Wayne Westlund June 1, 1963 at the First Lutheran Church in Middle River. In 1967, they moved to Grand Forks, raising 4 children.

Dorothy worked as a teacher in Park River, Thief River Falls, St. James High School, AVTI, Red River High School and UND. She started her career as a realtor in 1971, working at Collette Realty, Fladland Realty, Crary Real Estate and currently, Greenberg Realty.

She loved gardening, spending time with her family, attending UND sporting events, was involved in many bridge clubs, PEO Sisterhood, and was past Treasurer for Gamma Phil Beta.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Wayne; son, David (Mari Beth) Westlund of Dallas, TX, and their children, Kelli & Katie; son, Brian (Marcia) Westlund, West Fargo, ND, and their children, Ryan (Abby) Siewert, Williston, ND; Tyler (Angie) Siewert, Bismarck, ND; Abigail Westlund, Grand Forks, ND; son, Kevin (Vanessa) Westlund of Houston, TX, and children, Alexander, Nathaniel and Lucas; and daughter, Kari (Peter) Carlson of Bemidji, MN, and their children, Nicholas & Natalie; sister, Arleen (Duane) Loven of Grand Forks; 5 great grandchildren: Elijah, Mila and Landon, Liam and Marlie.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janice Kezar and brother-in-law, James Kezar.

**In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Dorothy's name to Calvary Lutheran Church or UND Athletics. A private graveside service will take place.
