Carol Jo Kelsey

Carol Jo Kelsey, age 80, of St. Paul. passed away, on July 11th, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald (Oct. 26, 2017) and brother, David Engevik. Carol was the beloved mother of Mark (Kimberly) Kelsey, Heather (Randall) Quale and Michael Kelsey(friend, Kathleen McCarthy); grandchildren, Alec and Morgan Kelsey and Stellan Quale; sisters, Marjorie (Glenn) Espe and Kathryn (Harvey) Ebbighausen, sister-in-law, Linda (Glenn Strand) Kelsey; and brother in-law, Thomas (Ingrid Schaff) Kelsey. She will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Visitation was held Thursday, July 19thfrom 4-8 PM at HOLCOMB- HENRY-BOOM-PURCELL FUNERAL HOME, Hwy 96 W at Mackubin, Shoreview, MN. Memorial Services were held on Friday, July 20that 11 AM with a gathering from 10-11 AM at COMO PARK LUTHERAN CHURCH 1376 Hoyt Ave., St. Paul, MN. Driven by faith, Carol was a leader, a listener, an advocate, an educator, a friend, a connector of people and generous supporter of the arts. Carol was a 1960 U of M School of Nursing graduate, with a Master’s degree from St. Thomas in 1990. She served as Education Director at United Hospital and North Memorial and a Consultant in retirement. She chaired and served on boards for Tomahawk, Lyngblomsten and the U of M School of Nursing Alumni and Foundation. She was a Sigma Theta Tau member. Carol was a dedicated community volunteer and church member of Como Park Lutheran and formerly Gloria Dei. Memorials preferred to Como Park Lutheran Church, West Metro Warriors Special Olympics Team or U of M Foundation: Class of 1960 Nursing Scholarship Fund.
