One Piece at a Time....

When I stepped into Husky Johnson’s warm, cozy garage recently, I was welcomed by a vehicle that looked like some vandals had gone hog wild. It was definitely “parts missing.”

On further discussion, I found out Husky Johnson was in the process of “building” a new pickup. It looked like what Johnny Cash’s garage must have looked like in his hit song, One Piece at a Time! Bits and pieces of pickup parts of various conditions and colors were scattered throughout the garage. When most of us purchase a vehicle, it comes fully assembled, but not this one.

It began 7 years ago when he bought a 1983 Chevy Short Box 4x4 pickup from neighbor Vern Peterson. He immediately began the renovation project but then put it away when he got too busy to continue. Well, when 2020 rolled around, as we all know, there was more time to spend on long lost projects such as this. So the pickup was pulled out again, and renovation continued.
