Gatzke Farmer’s State Bank Robbed!

When Clarence Dahl approached me about an old armed robbery of the Gatzke Bank, my first thought was not about the drama of 100 years ago...it was “Was there a bank in Gatzke?!”

For someone who grew up 8 miles from Gatzke and spent a lot of time in that area, I thought I knew a lot about the cozy little town. I spent many fun-filled times at the Sportsman’s Club, attended church events with friends, performed with our all-girls band at the old school, danced at the Young People’s Hall, attended many baseball games west of town, shopped at the old grocery store, and had many friends who attended school there. But a bank? That was something I never recalled.
