Happiness is…

Happiness is…

I remember a book from early childhood written by Charles Schulz. It was titled, “Happiness Is” and it caused quite a stir amongst the preschool crowd (and beyond). For good reason. Its message was simple, meaningful, ageless and timeless.

Question: Can someone with a motorcycle permit have their small dog riding on the motorcycle or would that be considered a passenger? We have already purchased a helmet and leather jacket for this lucky pup! Thank you for your response.

Dividing Perennials

Dividing Perennials

With our recent warm weather, you have probably started noticing your landscape plants really taking off in growth. For those with a more established landscape, this boost in growth may have you noticing some of your perennials crowding out others or taking over. If this is the case, it may be time to consider splitting your plants.

Of Smoothies and Kayaks

I wanted a kayak. It was a simple request I repeated repeatedly. I talked about how we would go kayaking this summer on the lake. We’d have a blast making family memories while building our triceps and getting a tan. I communicated as clearly as I could, in English, which is the language they speak. I wanted a kayak.

Lisa and I saw a movie this past weekend called “Father Stu.” The story follows Stuart Long, a boxer whose career ends with a repeated injury. Long moves to Hollywood to become an actor. While in Los Angeles, he meets a Sunday school teacher who is not interested in him. He attends church to impress her, eventually suffering severe injuries in a motorcycle accident that leads him to believe he should be a priest. Suffering is a central theme to this movie. Stu Long suffers from his own irresponsible, self-destructive actions and the results of poor relationship with his distant father. His father leans on alcohol to deal with his own pain and his mother insulates herself from her own suffering by distancing herself emotionally. Long eventually embraces his suffering as an opportunity to know God. He explains this to some degree by comparing humans to Jesus himself in saying that “we are spiritual beings going through a human experience.”
