John Curtiss Hanson

John Curtiss Hanson was born in Middle River. He grew up and attended school in the Gatzke area. He enjoyed spending time at his Uncle’s Kalishko farm north of Middle River.

John joined the Navy and proudly served for his country. During his tour of duty he was assigned to the USS WASP.

He worked for Pearson Candy Company in St. Paul for 17 years. A family gig brought him and his wife Shirley into the Patsy Pizza Pappa business for a few years. Other places of employment in management were with Powell Candy Company, Simply Potatoes and then retiring from Tyson Foods.

John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. They were a very important part of his life. A special event each year for John was coming to Middle River to attend the Goose Festival and be with family.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; sisters, Barbara Bring and Margaret Ann Strandberg and grandchildren Aaron and Brandy. He is survived by his children, Debbie (Mark); Cary (Kelly); and Denise (Chad). Grandchildren: Matthew, Rochelle, John and Alyssa. Great grandchildren Jameson, Maverick, and Kylie. Siblings Hjalmer Hanson, Karyl Cooper, and numerous other relatives.
