Frank George Cwikla

Frank Cwikla of Wannaska passed away at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN on August 31, 2020 at the age of 88.

Frank George Cwikla was born in Thief Lake Township of Marshall County, MN on December 23, 1931 to Peter and Caroline Cwikla. He attended school in Whiteford Township through 8th grade. In 1962 he married Shirley Palm. Sadly, she passed away in 1994. Frank worked at Schenkey Construction and the elevator in Middle River. He also farmed with his mother. After moving to Roseau, Frank worked in parts assembly and in management at Polaris. He also farmed while Shirley worked as a teacher in Gatzke and Grygla. They moved to Wannaska and he purchased a farm there. Recently Frank sold his farm to his lifelong friend, Danny Olson.

Frank was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman who loved animals. He enjoyed having fun and telling jokes. He was a very light-hearted, fun individual but was also a very humble man who was well known and was respected by many in the area.

Survived by sisters-in-law Frances (Jesme) Cwikla, Mimi (Peterson) Cwikla; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley; brothers, Stanley, John, Paul, Alex and infant brother; sisters, Rose, Mary, Pauline (Polly) and Ann; special friend Arlene Wilcox; brothers in-law, Joe (Rose) Burian, Victor (Mary) Taus, Ralph (Pauline) Berg and Albert (Ann) Zedlik; sisters in-law, Pauline (Stanley) Cwikla, Ann (John) Cwikla.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 9, at 2:00 PM at Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Interment at Palmville Cemetery.
