Murray Lee Turner, 71

Murray Lee Turner, 71

Murray Lee Turner passed away on December 9, 2025. He was 71 years old.

Murray was born on December 16th, 1953, in St. Vincent, MN. His early years were spent in the Jolliet and Pembina, ND area. Murray graduated from Pembina High School in 1971. He then attended the University of North Dakota and received a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Murray's life was spent in education at both the secondary and post-secondary levels. He taught at the North Valley Vocational Center in Grafton, ND, from 1977 to 1980. While teaching in Grafton, he also attended the University of North Dakota and received a master's degree in educational administration. From 1980 to 1988, he was an associate professor in business administration at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, ND. In 1981, he married Patricia Stewart, and together they had two sons, Garrett and Logan. In 1988, the family moved to Red Lake Falls, MN, where Murray assumed the position of director of the Pine to Prairie Educational Center. Murray stayed in that position until his retirement in 2018. Murray then moved to Bozeman, MT, to join his two sons and welcome a new grandchild, Jack Ross, into the family.

Murray loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved to skate and curl, and, of course, his greatest passion was golf. Although he never mastered the sport, he kept on trying his entire life. Murray was so proud that Garrett, Logan, and Jack acquired some of the same passions. You only had to know Murray for a short time, and you could tell that he loved his family very much. They were always included in his conversations. Murray was a member of Pioneer Methodist Church in Pembina and Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Murray was preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 1991, his mother Joyce in 2007, his father Ross in 2022, and his sister Brenda in 2025. He was also preceded in death by his nephew Tyrel.

Survivors include his sons, Garrett and Logan; grandson, Jack; his brothers, Vaughn and Cameron; sister-in-law, Robin; brothers-in-law, Roy (Kristi) and Jim (Sheila) Stewart; and sister-in-law, Donna Stewart, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service has been held in Bozeman, MT.

A Memorial Service and burial will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN, at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Murray's name to the American Cancer Society.
