Edna Skiple, 92

Edna Skiple, 92

Edna Skiple, 92, of Fargo, N.D., passed away peacefully on November 3 surrounded by family.

Edna L. Fladhammer was born on June 10, 1933, to Christ and Anna (Versdahl) Fladhammer in Winger, Minnesota. Raised a farm girl, she attended Foot Lake School, and worked at the Ness Cafe in Erskine, Minnesota. On May 23, 1953, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Skiple at the Gosen Lutheran Church in McIntosh. Lawrence and Edna lived on their dairy farm on Maple Lake until 1960 when they moved to Crookston, Minnesota. In 1973, the growing family moved to Red Lake Falls, where Lawrence and Edna lived until 2005 when they moved to Fargo to be closer to family.

Edna worked for most of her adult life as a nurse’s aide at Riverview Hospital in Crookston and St. John’s Hospital and Hillcrest nursing home in Red Lake Falls. In retirement, she and Lawrence enjoyed traveling, taking many bus and car trips across the Midwest, as well as visiting England and Norway. After Lawrence passed away in 2017, Edna managed a few more trips, and in her later years loved to have family and friends drop by for coffee and a donut (or two). She will be missed by her numerous friends at Fieldstone Village.

Edna is survived by her daughter Diane (Keith) Kron of Paola, Kansas, sons Scott (Jackie) of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Steve of Bismarck, Craig (Linda) and Richard of Fargo, Darin of Waconia, Minnesota, and Jason (Anita) of Detroit Lakes, as well as 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren (and counting), her sister Helen Lee of Erskine, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence; sons Michael and Brian, sister Myra Gulstvig, and brothers Arthur, Harold, Alvin and Kenneth.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to HIA Hospice, Home Instead, and SMP South nursing staff for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HIA Hospice.

A prayer service was held at 7 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025, with visitation from 6 to 7 PM at West Funeral Home in West Fargo. Funeral services were held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo, followed by internment at Riverside Cemetery.
