Vernon Knutson is Vietnam Casualty
Vernon (Sonny) Knutson of Middle River was a casualty of the Viet Nam War. He was killed in combat near Hua Nghia, South Vietnam on February 16, 1969.
National Vietnam War Veterans Day
Wayne Kilen is a strong advocate for veterans in our area. So he is excited about and promoting the upcoming National Vietnam War Veterans Day which will be celebrated on March 29.
4 GATORS ADVANCE TO STATE!
Four Gators wrestled their way to the Minnesota State High School wrestling tournament with wins at the state preliminary tournament held at Cass Lake Bena High School. The State tournament will be held on March 25-27 at St. Michael. Advancers include Dominik Vacura @ 220#, Garrett Undeberg @ 145#, Ethan Waage @ 160#, and Caleb Vacura @ 182#.
State Math League Results
GMR Senior Ryan Hlucny competed in the State Math League Tournament on March 8th and March 15th. The invitational event was held on March 8th for the top students in each division and the top 50 students in the state. There were a total of 73 participants in the invitational. The invitational event consists of 14 total questions, 8 of which are considered easy questions worth 1 point each, followed by 4 hard questions worth 2 points each, followed by 2 challenge questions worth 4 points each for a total of 24 points. The questions range from all topics of math league so participants have to be prepared for all types of questions from Algebra to Geometry to Statistics to Trigonometry. Ryan scored 10 points on the invitational event, which was the best score he has gotten in the last 4 years on the invitational. Out of the 73 students that took the invitational event, Ryan placed 54th.
