Recently, Carl Peterson and his wife Tricia were spending the afternoon behind the Legacy Center in Middle River, near what was once the football field of the Middle River High School. They were enjoying their new pastime – metal detecting.

They have recently revived this pastime during the Covid social distancing and stay-at-home orders. “I bought my first detector, a Bounty Hunter, about 10 years ago,” said Carl. “My dad sparked my interest this spring when he decided to buy a good detector, so I started doing some research and decided to buy a better one myself.”

He and his wife, Tricia spent hours watching YouTube and learning as much about it as they could. He suggests anyone interested in this pastime to check out “The Hoover Boys” on YouTube. Carl ended up buying a Fisher F75 SE and Tricia bought a Nokta Simplex. “We now have an awesome hobby that we can spend hours doing together,” said Carl. “After all, who doesn’t love treasure hunting?!”
