Back to Our Roots: Lessons from a weekend at Rollag

This past weekend my family and I went on our annual family trip to Rollag, Minnesota for the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. If you’ve never been, it’s truly worth the visit. Of course, the big attractions are the steam-powered trains and tractors, but the grounds hold so much more. There’s the women’s building where they show you how to spin wool into yarn and dip homemade beeswax candles, a blacksmithing shop where hooks are forged just like the ones pioneers once used for processing meat, and demonstrations all across the grounds that take you back in time.
