You may have noticed some large satin ribbons around trees in your town. This sign was tied to a tree outside of Brewhaha in Newfolden, with others scattered around the neighborhood. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the Violence Intervention Project (VIP) is getting the word out about their services to everyone in Pennington, Kittson, Marshall, Red Lake and Roseau counties.
From VIP’s Facebook page: “Teal ribbons were placed around trees in prominent areas of Thief River Falls [and surrounding towns]. Each has a laminated sign explaining what VIP is and the services we provide the community. Our goal is to raise awareness of sexual violence and let our communities know about our services. We wanted survivors to feel empowered to seek support and know where to do so. For others, this was a reminder that there are free community resources available if they ever need to utilize our services in the future.”
