For the 12th time in program history, the Northland Community & Technical College Pioneer Women’s Basketball Team will make the trek to the NJCAA National Championship. In a weekend sweep, the Pioneers dominated the Region XIIIB Tournament taking out #4 seeded Central Lakes College in the semis and #3 Hibbing in the final match of the weekend securing their place in the big show. The Division III showdown will be held in Rockford, IL, March 12-14.

The Pioneers have persisted over a season that began with four straight losses. That turned around very quickly, however, as Northland bounded back with 10 straight wins and 20-5 overall record.

Pioneer Head Coach Shannon Nelson recaps, “I’m so proud of this team and how they persevered through a lot of adversity this season—from injuries to illnesses to losing teammates and countless other challenges that came their way. I really believe that they won the regional tournament because that adversity made them tougher and brought them closer together as a team.”
