Imrie, Duray, and Wahl get GRP checkers

On a perfect night for racing, 60 drivers signed into the pits in hopes of picking up an elusive checkered flag, and six of them were lucky enough to do so.

The Modified feature would send 13 cars to take the green flag and polesitter Ward Imrie of Winnipeg, Mb., would bolt out to the early lead. Imrie was challenged early by Aaron Holtan of Newfolden, Mn., and Jordan Duray of Halma, Mn., and Rick Delaine of Stony Mtn., Mb., would join the fray a few laps later. Imrie was able to hold everyone off so the race was for the second spot. Duray got by Holtan early and about the midway point Delaine got by Duray, but a few laps later Duray would retake the second spot. The race would go caution free and Imrie would pick up his first GRP win and sweep of the year, Duray would finish second and Delaine third. Shane Wahl of Greenbush, Mn., would win the other heat.

A couple of cautions before they would get one lap in slowed the pace for the 10 car Pure Stock feature and it would be Bryon Berger of Badger to take the early lead. But two laps in Berger would bobble in two and that would allow Jon Duray of Karlstad, Mn., to get past Berger. About midway through, Duray got caught behind a lapped car and Berger would take the lead back, but just one lap later Duray would retake the lead and go on to get his second win in a row and a sweep of the night. Berger would hold on for second and Ryan Anderson of Newfolden, Mn., would finish third. A.J. Lane of Williams, Mn., would get the other heat win.
