Wally Chaplinski

Walter Joseph Chaplinski was born on June 14th, 1952, in Greenbush, MN to Albin Lawrence Chaplinski and Julia Ann (Stanina) Chaplinski Johnson.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Middle River and attended elementary school in Gatzke and high school in Middle River. On June 24th, 1975, he was united in marriage to Glenda (Brawley) and made their home on the Chaplinski farmstead where he lived his entire life, where they raised two daughters Katrina (Katie) Marie and Stacie Michelle. Wally farmed the family farm until 1997; afterwards he worked for Davidson Construction until retirement. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, tinkering in his shop, having the ability to fix anything, a perfectionist at maintaining the lawn, and evening drives around the country roads. The best days of his life were spent helping his older brother and best friend Albin driving his big tractors.The daily highlight was having coffee and conversation with the neighborhood guys. The biggest loves of his life were his grandkids Gracie Marie and Eli Bradley Nelson and an assortment of grand puppies.

Wally passed away on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, at his home surrounded by family following a short battle with Glioblastoma Multiform at the age of 69.

Wally is survived by his wife of 46 years Glenda, daughters Katie (Jeremy) Jensen of West Fargo, ND and Stacie (Aaron) Nelson of Thompson, ND; grandchildren Gracie and Eli Nelson; his brothers Albin (Johnnie) Chaplinski and Chuck (LuAnn) Chaplinski of Middle River, MN; sister-in-law Evelyn (Dale) Rogers of Gatzke, MN and brother-in-law Butch (Anne) Brawley of Garrison, ND; many nieces and nephews and neighborhood friends.

Proceeding him in death was his parents Albin Sr. and Julia, stepfather Wallace (Swede) Johnson, brother Michael and father and mother-in law Ruben and Angie Brawley.

Family and friends will gather at 1:00pm on Monday, January 24th, 2022, at Collins Funeral Home in Middle River, MN and a Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 1:30. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Middle River, and luncheon will be held at the American Legion in Middle River. Funeral arrangements are with Collins Funeral Home of Middle River, Mn.
