Renee Ness

Renee Ness of Thief River Falls, MN, formerly of Middle River, MN, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 30, 2021.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the American Legion in Middle River, MN, on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Lunch will be served.

Renee Adeline Klein was born on November 18, 1944 in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Edwin and Erma (Otto) Klein. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Renee attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in St. Cloud, MN.

On February 14, 1985 Renee was united in marriage to Arnold Ness in Holt, MN. Together they made their home and farmed in Middle River, MN.

For a number of years Renee had a daycare in her home for many different families. She also cleaned several homes throughout the community. Renee worked Bingo and cleaned at the American Legion in Middle River. More recently Renee cleaned houses and enjoyed helping paint and clean for others.

Renee enjoyed board games, puzzles, playing pinochle, making up her own rules for Dominoes – the Renee rules, playing games on her tablets, reading, and participating in productions at the Middle River Community Theatre. She especially enjoyed crocheting afghans, potholders, baby blankets, scrubbies, and much more. Renee loved spending time with “Her Guys” – her great-grandsons, Holland and Hutton.

Renee will be remembered for her generosity and kind heart. She will be greatly missed.

Renee is survived by her husband, Arnold Ness of Thief River Falls, MN; step-children, Roy Ness of Middle River, MN, and Dawn (Jeff) Benke of Newfolden, MN; grandchildren, Alan (Morgan) Ness of Middle River, MN, and Jessica, Adam, and Ashley Benke of Newfolden, MN; great-grandsons, Holland and Hutton Ness; siblings, Dennis “Butch” (Laurie) Klein of Colorado, Janice (Gary) Baird of Arizona, and Jeff Shumway of New York; really good friends, Carol Hanson, Kerry Erickson, Ruby Ahlgren, and Dee Demerly all of Thief River Falls, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; sister, Elaine; and nieces and nephews.
