Martha Holsapple

Martha Algene Holsapple, 77, of Staples, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Services were held at 11am, on Friday, August 25th at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, MN. A burial followed at Motley Public Cemetery.

Martha was born on November 17, 1945, to Arthur and Maude (Curtiss) Sorter in Thief River Falls. She graduated from Middle River High School in 1963. She married Duane Johnson, who passed away in 1994, and later married Carl Holsapple in 1997, who passed away in 2006.

Martha enjoyed family gatherings, getting together with friends and family, reading, attending church activities, and listening to any kind of music. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Martha is survived by her children, Lyndon (Linda) Johnson, Aletha Flickinger, Lyle (Lori) Johnson, Linette (Tom) Horn, Louann (Mark) Eppelsheimer, and Russell (LeAnn) Holsapple; eighteen grandchildren, Stephanie, Jenny, Nicholas, Lance, Brandon F., Kayla, Gavin, Garret, Shontel, Quinton, Olivia, Zachary, Daniel, Noah, Isaiah, Lanaiah, Aadi, Ava, Brandon E., and Claire; sixteen great grandchildren, brothers, Luvern and Willard Sorter, sister-in-law, Donna, brother-in-laws, Gary and DelRay, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Ervin and Norman Sorter; husbands, Duane and Carl; son Billy; and son-in-law LeRoy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
