Mark Harold Peterson

Mark Harold Peterson was the son of the late Harold Peterson and the late Joan Reed Peterson. He was born September 21, 1960 in Albany, OR. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and was later confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River. Mark graduated in 1978 from Middle River High School. On May 5th, 1984, Mark was united in marriage to Marlene Berg in Karlstad, MN. To this union, two children, Blake and Katelyn were born.

After high school and during his married years, Mark held several different jobs including the dairy farm life which he shared with Marlene.

Mark had many passions in life and all of them included his family and friends. He loved hunting and telling stories with his dad, brothers, nephews and grandson, Caleb. Mark and Marlene have a place at the Northwest Angle where they enjoyed camping and fishing with dear friends. They went on several amazing family vacations. Yet Mark’s true love were his horses. He cherished his horse sale trips with his buddies, loved the local rodeos and their trips to the NFR. Many wonderful memories were made at the Peterson Arena and in the “Old Barn”. He was a teacher. He loved to laugh and he had huge heart. He always put everyone else first. He was a hardworking, honest, humble gentlemen and a true cowboy.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts, uncles and other family members.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marlene; children, Blake (Laura) and grandson, Caleb of Middle River and daughter Katelyn (John) Lofgren of Thompson, ND, brother Scott (Therese) Peterson of Cromwell, MN, sister Patty Peterson of West Yellowstone, MT, brother Brian (Terri) Peterson of Newfolden, and sister Kim (Jason) Howell of West Yellowstone, MT. and several nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Mark passed away peacefully at his home after a two year battle with cancer on Sunday, December 8th, 2019. May his memory be forever blessed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, Minnesota with Pastor Rena Peterson officiating. A private family burial will be held at Spruce Valley Cemetery in the Spring.
