Bruce Lyle Knutson was born on July 7, 1954 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Luvern and Edith (Olson) Knutson. He was baptized and confirmed at Westaker Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN. Bruce attended Marshall County Central School until 10th grade, then later received his GED.
On July 7, 1974 Bruce was married to Teri Skinner at Westaker Church in Newfolden. The couple were married for 24 years and together had two boys, Shane and Christopher. In 1974 Bruce worked for Crystal Sugar in Drayton, ND. In the late 70’s Bruce worked at Arctic Cat. In 1983 he moved to Williston for a year and worked for Sherman Oil. When he returned to Newfolden he farmed for Elseth’s for a year, then became employed by Terog Manufacturing in Stephen, MN, for the next 18 ½ years. In 1998 he started at the ODC in Thief River Falls, MN and also managed apartments in Newfolden. He retired in 2017.
Bruce enjoyed deer hunting, coyote hunting, fishing, collecting guns, and driving his motorcycle.
He was a member of the NRA and the North Riders Motorcycle group. Bruce is survived by his children, Shane Knutson and Chris Knutson, both of Newfolden, MN; granddaughter, Penley Knutson; sister, Audrey (Jerel) Kilen of Greenbush, MN, and Gary Leader of Newfolden, MN; nephews, Jonathan (Kayla) Leader and Lorrin Leader, both of Newfolden, MN; nieces, Kristi (Mason) Persons of Fargo, ND, and Katie (Caleb) Holthusen of Viking, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luvern and Edith Knutson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Phil Rokke officiating. Burial will follow at Westaker Cemetery, rural Newfolden, MN.
Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home on Saturday.
