Kennedy Truscinski receives ExCEL Award

Each year, every school across the state of Minnesota can nominate one boy and one girl to be considered for the ExCELAward (Excellence in Community, Education, and Leadership). Once a student is nominated by their school district, they are required to fill out a lengthy application explaining their involvement in fine arts, athletics, school contributions, volunteer community service, leadership roles that they have held, grade point average, their favorite leadership quote, their definition of leadership, and a short essay explaining one of their volunteer services. The application is then sent in to the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). Once the applications are received by the MSHSL, a panel of judges goes through every application received and selects 18 boys and 18 girls from throughout the state to receive the award, regardless of school size. The winners were announced on February 4, 2019. Kennedy Truscinski was one of those 18 girls in the state of Minnesota to earn this award.
