While visiting Young's General Store in Middle River this weekend, I saw a ton of fresh asparagus! I chatted with Mark, and it sounds like asparagus will be available the next few weeks! Here is one of my favorite breakfast recipes using fresh asparagus!
NCHSC Offers Free Kids Grooming Clinic

The North Country Horsemen Saddle Club held a Free Kids Grooming Clinic on Saturday, May 15th at the Ornquist Arena near Middle River. Terhya Nyegaard demonstrated to the nine kids that attended, how to groom a horse, apply fly spray and clean hooves. Jennifer Kalkis did a Mane & Tail Braiding presentation with assistance from Honna Westlund, Hanna Bergsnev and Stacey Nelson. The kids were then able to practice grooming and braiding on several horses brought in by club members and even got to do some horse painting. Lunch was served following the Clinic.
4-H is Back In-Person at the Marshall County Fair!

With the Covid-19 pandemic, the world was put on pause, but 4-H never stopped; instead, 4-H accommodated and moved their youth development virtual. Yet, we all know anything virtual is not the same as in-person social interaction. Last summer, we all missed out on the talents and efforts of the 4-H youth, and there’s no doubt you missed the sounds, sights, and smells of the county fair.
