The next representative to the 2022 Miss Minnesota Pageant from the northwest corner of the state will be chosen in Middle River on Sunday, September 12 at 3:00 p.m. The Miss North Star Pageant will be held at the Middle River Legacy Center with tickets available at the door. The current Miss North Star, O’Brien Stromsodt, will make her final appearance after a very busy and successful two-year reign. Her final duty will be to crown her successor as the culmination of the competition, which consists of Private Interview, Talent, On Stage Interview, and Evening Wear/Social Impact Statement. Five young ladies competing in this year’s competition include Topanga Brown, Thief River Falls; Ellen Teiken, Bemidji; Aubre Berg, Greenbush; Whitney McClain, Hawley; and Emily Kautz, Pillager. Special guest at the pageant will be Miss Minnesota, Elle Mark. Former Miss North Stars include Kailee Ogden, McKenzie DeGelder, Madison Truscinski, Brianna Drevlow, Morgan Berg, Katrina Bugge, and O’Brien Stromsodt.

The Greenbush-Badger Lions Club will be rolling up their sleeves for two separate pancake breakfasts for community benefits in September. The first event will be Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the Northland Threshing Bee, with serving from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The event is located at 25504 Cty Rd 8, Strathcona, MN. Directions from Strathcona: 3 miles north on Hwy 32, turn East on Cty Rd 8, go 5.5 miles.

YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR Nora Veselka took advantage of the opportunity to set up a small business for the day during the Middle River Community Rummage Sale. The lemonade and homemade Special K bars were a hit with the shoppers.
