Ryan Hlucny Represents GMR Middle School at the Regional Spelling Bee

Ryan Hlucny has competed in the local GMR spelling bee in 6th, 7th, & 8th grade. But the third time was the charm as he won the local competition and advanced to represent GMR Middle School at the Regional competition held at Northland Community & Tecnical College in Thief River Falls. The competition started out with 42 students from across the northwest region of Minnesota. They all began the competition in the written round of 50 words and the top 22 advanced on to the oral round. Ryan was in the top 12 of the written round and received a plaque. In the oral competition there were only 9 students remaining after Ryan was eliminated with the top four moving on to State Competition.
